It’s great to be eight.
Our youngest just turned six and is learning to draw the number 8. She got a small whiteboard as a gift and covers the surface with figure eights, 8 and says to me, “I can’t wait to be 8.”
What a blessing to have “I Want to Be Baptized” and “The Holy Ghost is Like a Blanket” for her to read and ponder before she turns eight and makes that important choice in her life.
I had the blessing of signing a few books for some friends who came to town. I do love signing books for special events like baptisms and confirmations.
The gospel is a joy and at this Easter season when we rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I find happiness abounding all around in the simple joys of life, even drawing the letter 8, it’s great!
Celebrate!
Stay Tuned – I’ll be headed to Provo/Orem the first week of May for book signing events.
I’m thankful for friends who send me pictures of my little book, the publisher, the illustrator, and my family who support me.
At Thanksgiving time, we are grateful. We eat food. We cherish memories of family. We preserve traditions and worship God.
Saying “Thank you” is undervalued these days and I hope you use it every day. Smiles!!
P.S. I recommend a good Minky to enjoy Fall. http://www.softminkyblankets.com/

It only seemed natural to write the prequel to “The Holy Ghost is Like a Blanket” and proud that “I Want to Be Baptized” illustrated by Corey Egbert was released this week.

I champion women and all those who ask for help in times of trial and error. When mothers have a problem, those who ask for advice, guidance, and/or assistance before lashing out or becoming frustrated are among the brave warriors raising children in this dispensation.
“Ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” — James 1: 6
Upon receiving word that my friend, mother of two young children, had tried teaching her children about the Holy Ghost. All the books on the shelves were too complex. She desired them to know of his power and goodness. Instead, she found herself days on end with children scared and unwilling to go to sleep thinking the Holy Ghost was a ghost, like Casper. She needed something simple and helpful and fast. At wits end, she consulted me and I wrote the following poem in 2008:
I illustrated the little poem and had it spiral bound for her children and mailed it off in hopes it would be helpful.
She immediately emailed saying the children LOVED the little story, especially the boy with spiky hair. By comparing the Holy Ghost to a blanket, they could understand the concepts of him being a ‘comforter’ and ‘warm’ and that without him we are sad.
More importantly, my friend had the courage to teach her children the gospel. When she found herself discouraged, she asked for help. She hadn’t expected me to write and illustrate a little story book for her children, but the Lord knew I could be helpful and I followed the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
Since that time, the little poem evolved into a storybook expounding on many analogies aimed to help children understand the Holy Ghost. With much prayer and diligence, a publisher and illustrator were selected and the book “The Holy Ghost is Like A Blanket” is now published by Cedar Fort Inc with Corey Egbert as illustrator.
I’m impressed that one act of courage to ask has turned into many receiving this wonderful gift and for a book available to all in hopes you can learn about the Holy Ghost.
Smiles, Annalisa
